Help us Build the Integrated Cancer Centre
Victoria has six designated Regional Public Health Services. GV Health is the only service without an Integrated Cancer Centre.
The GV Health Foundation has made a bold commitment to raise $5 million to demonstrate, with a unified voice, that a fully integrated Cancer Centre is a clear and urgent priority for our region.
GV Health's Current Oncology Unit Offers:
- Highly skilled, dedicated oncology staff committed to delivering exceptional care
- Inpatient and outpatient cancer care including chemotherapy, Targeted therapies, supportive care screening and clinical trials
- Symptom and Urgent Review Clinic
- Scalp cooling service to minimise hair loss caused by some treatments
- Facilities that accommodate all oncology staff and services under one roof
- Onsite radiation therapy
- Dedicated spaces that accommodate wellness programs that support cancer management and recovery
- Enough private consult rooms to meet with and treat patients
- Facilities that accommodate the growing number of oncology patients in the Goulburn Valley region
- Facilities that accommodate innovative and evolving oncology treatments and care
- Multidisciplinary planning spaces to enhance clinical team collaboration for optimal patient care
GV Health is the only major regional public health service in Victoria without an Integrated Cancer Centre.
We believe a patient’s postcode should not determine their treatment outcomes. Join us in ensuring world-class cancer facilities are available in the Goulburn Valley, so patients can access the care they need close to home and near their loved ones.
FAQs
In just four years, patient treatments at GV Health’s Oncology Unit have risen from 10,679 to 16,476, a 54% increase. GV Health’s facilities were not designed to handle this volume or the long-term nature of modern cancer care. To maintain GV Health’s standard of service, we must transition to the proposed Integrated Cancer Centre. This facility will bring clinical treatment and wellness support together in one location, creating a streamlined environment equipped to manage both the growing number of patients and their complex, long-term needs.
The total cost of building a new Integrated Cancer Centre is $120 million. The Australian government has already committed $30 million funding for stage 1 of development, with construction scheduled to commence in 2027. The $90 million of government funding required for stage 2 has not yet been secured. The GV Health Foundation has committed to raise $5 million toward stage 2, to demonstrate with a unified voice, that a fully Integrated Cancer Centre is a clear and urgent priority for our region.
The Integrated Cancer Centre will be located at GV Health’s Shepparton Hospital campus.
We’re inviting individuals, families, businesses, and community organisations to register their support for a full Integrated Cancer Centre at GV Health’s Shepparton Hospital.
