In celebration of this year’s Volunteer Week, the GV Health Foundation is proud to recognise Paul Archer, one of our most dedicated and long-standing volunteers.

For the past 17 years, Paul has supported Goulburn Valley Health through his innovative battery recycling initiative, transforming unwanted lead-based vehicle batteries into vital funding for the Child and Adolescent Unit. Known across the Goulburn Valley as the “Battery Man”, Paul has raised an extraordinary $880,000 to date. These funds have directly supported essential equipment, therapeutic spaces, and programs that enhance care and outcomes for young patients and their families.

Paul was recently nominated for the Greater Shepparton City Council Volunteer Awards. While he did not take home the award, the ceremony provided a valuable opportunity to recognise and celebrate the many individuals who generously give their time in support of the community.

Looking ahead, Paul is working towards an impressive milestone of $1 million raised. Community members can support this goal by dropping off disused lead-based vehicle batteries at Natrad, 20 Campbell Street, Shepparton. Those interested in learning more or assisting with the initiative are encouraged to contact Paul on 0457 000 423.

The GV Health Foundation extends its sincere thanks to Paul for his ongoing commitment, innovation, and generosity. His contribution continues to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people and their families across the region.
