The GV Health Foundation is celebrating the outstanding efforts of GV Health’s oncology team and community supporters after raising more than $19,000 for the I Care for Cancer Care @ GV Health appeal at the 2026 Shepparton Running Festival.
More than 30 GV Health oncology staff members laced up their runners to take part in the festival, with participants completing a range of distances, including the 2km, 5km and half marathon events.
All funds raised will support the GV Health Foundation’s I Care for Cancer Care appeal, helping to deliver improved cancer care facilities closer to home for patients and families across the Goulburn Valley.
GV Health Foundation Director Amy De Paola said the result reflected the dedication of GV Health staff and the generosity of the wider community.
“We are incredibly grateful to every GV Health staff member who took part in the festival and to all community members who generously supported our I Care for Cancer Care appeal. Every donation brings us closer to improving cancer care for people across the Goulburn Valley,” Ms De Paola said.
“Cancer touches the lives of so many families in our region. The funds raised through the Shepparton Running Festival will help support our vision of delivering world-class cancer care facilities closer to home, ensuring local patients can access the care they need surrounded by the support of their loved ones.”
The I Care for Cancer Care appeal was established to support the development of a fully Integrated Cancer Centre at GV Health, helping to address significant gap in regional cancer infrastructure. While Victoria has six designated regional public health services, GV Health is the only one without an Integrated Cancer Centre.
Ms De Paola also thanked the organisers of the Shepparton Running Festival for their ongoing support of the appeal and their commitment to the local community.
“We sincerely thank the Shepparton Running Festival for providing such a fantastic opportunity to bring people together,” she said. “The festival gives GV Health staff, their families and friends, patients and community members the chance to connect outside the hospital setting, share a positive experience and support local healthcare. We are proud to be part of an event that strengthens community connections while improving outcomes for local patients and families.”
