A new GV Health initiative, Hope for Little Hearts, is helping ensure children receive comfort, care and a sense of belonging during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Thanks to the support of GV Health Foundation and the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, Specialist Paediatrician

Dr Donna Greyling has introduced 40 Hope for Little Hearts backpacks for children who present to the Emergency Department and are leaving hospital in foster care.

Each backpack has been packed with practical essentials and comforting items, including pyjamas, socks, underwear, toiletries, books, toys, craft activities, a soft toy, a knitted blanket and a drink bottle.

The initiative complements GV Health’s commitment to trauma-informed care by helping create a more supportive experience for children during their time in the Emergency Department. Importantly, each child also leaves with belongings they can call their own, providing a small but meaningful source of comfort as they move to a new environment.

GV Health Foundation is proud to support initiatives like Hope for Little Hearts that enhance the care experience for patients and families. We congratulate Dr Donna Greyling on bringing this thoughtful program to life and thank everyone involved in making it possible.
