Paul Archer - The Battery Man

For 16 years, Paul Archer — known across the Goulburn Valley as the Battery Man — has turned old lead-based batteries into life-changing support for local children. Through his Battery Man initiative, Paul has already raised an incredible $880,000 for GV Health’s Child and Adolescent Unit, helping fund essential equipment, programs and therapeutic spaces for young patients.

Now, Paul is striving toward an extraordinary milestone: $1 million raised. And he’s calling on the community to help him finish what he started.

After suffering a heart attack last year, Paul is no longer able to travel around the region to collect batteries. Instead, he’s asking locals to bring their unwanted lead batteries to Natrad Shepparton, 20 Campbell Street. He is also seeking volunteers who can lend a hand loading batteries for recycling.

Across the region, thousands of unused batteries sit in garages, sheds, vehicles and farm yards. Each one has the potential to support the health and wellbeing of children receiving care at GV Health.

Whether it’s a single car battery or a ute-load, every donation brings Paul closer to the million-dollar mark — and helps strengthen services for local families.

If you would like to volunteer or learn more, please contact Paul on 0457 000 423.

Let’s rally behind our Battery Man and help him power past $1 million for the children of our community.
