Join an Auxiliary

Hospital auxiliaries and support committees provide an essential fundraising role at GV Health Foundation. They contribute financially in many ways including organising cake stalls, raffles, film nights and other special events.

GV Health Foundation appreciates the ongoing support given by its auxiliaries and support groups, which include:

GV Health Extended Care Auxiliary

The Goulburn Valley Health Extended Care Auxiliary commenced raising funds back in the late 60s to support the Mooroopna Hospital or MECA as it was known back then.

The ladies catch up monthly to discuss raising funds for both Mary Coram Unit and Grutzner House. A lot of the ladies were founders of the committee and are still actively raising funds. Raising much needed dollars can be anything from plant sales to donations from well-wishers. They agree that the hospital needs support to help make purchases or ‘wish lists’, as they referred to it, for the two departments that they feel need it most. Some of the members have been patients or have had family in the care of the hospital and love the thought that they can contribute to make everyone’s stay just that little bit more comfortable.

Over the years they have purchased shade sails, exercise bikes, big comfortable chairs and even ‘coloured’ televisions, not to mention monitors and medical equipment that has made nursing these patients with advanced care a little bit easier. The ladies meet on the first Monday of the month at the civic centre as they know it (Eastbank for the younger generation) for their meeting and coffee and welcome anyone in the community that has any interest to meet with them, everyone is more than welcome.

Tatura Hospital and Parkville Ladies Auxiliary

This auxiliary has been supporting the Tatura Hospital and its community since 1946. They have raised thousands of dollars to enhance the patient care services provided at the hospital and funded Parkvilla Aged Care Facility with beds and kitchen appliances, among other things requested. They have been actively involved in the annual Tatura Hospital Appeal and supply help with both the 100 Lap Challenge and Hospital Sunday. They meet on a monthly basis, with their meetings lasting under an hour and enjoy afternoon tea for a chat afterwards.

They are always looking for volunteers to join them.

GV Heartbeat Shepparton

Heartbeat Victoria Goulburn Valley Branch.

The Shepparton Branch was initially formed in 1986 as a peer support group for patients, who have experienced cardiac surgery or have a cardiac condition, their carers and family. More than 36 years later, the group has more than 50 active members who provide a network that supports Cardiac Rehab and promotes a program of activities of benefit to members in their maintenance of health and wellbeing, and are renowned for fundraising success. Over the years more than $270,0000 in funding has been donated, with the funding particularly focused on equipment and enhanced services required in the Coronary Care areas, Cardiac Rehabilitation and the Emergency Department in GVH. The Heartbeat GV Branch has also helped many people in our community with their heart health journey and their support of the cardiac service at GV Health.
